Diary of a Mad Art Woman

One of my oldest, dearest, art-loving friends refers to Art Basel as his favorite "holiday".  Holiday, indeed!  Art Basel Miami, for those less familiar, is a week-long celebration of art, design, fashion and music in Miami Beach.  It is comprised of more than ten simultaneous fairs, the most popular of which is Art Basel Miami, of course.

Somehow, between the art, the sun and the parties, I managed to pause and take it in.  Here are some moments worth remembering:

Teepees dramatized the pool at the Mondrian Hotel.

Suspension was a popular theme.

If you don't know what this means, google it.

A photograph of the Rose Reading Room at the New York Public Library,
created from hand cut and assembled negatives.
-
We allowed ourselves a quick break when copper pineapples appeared at the
Miami EDITION Hotel.

This looks like the ocean, but in fact it is a photograph of cracked asphalt in
a parking lot, printed on aluminum.
